Svetlana Butakova is a Russian artist from the provincial town of Kirov region. Taking inspiration from her rural childhood landscapes, she predominantly works in watercolour and painted fabrics. Embracing the hot batik technique, which involves drawing with hot wax and then applying colour patterns, Butakova's love of Russian wildlife is reflected in her landscape paintings and still life works.
Internationally recognised for her paintings on fabrics, Butakova is a member of VTOO (Union of Russian Artists), International Association of Fine Arts - AIAP UNESCO and the Participant of Plein Air Artist's Residencies in Italy, Serbia and Montenegro.
Butakova's works can be found in the collections of State Museums in Russia and across Eastern Europe.
